#1984WrestlingWars 2 AJPW bouts from 2/26/84, A WCCW bout from 2/27/84
AJPW 2/26/84, Match #1 NWA Junior Heavyweight title bout, Champion Chavo Guerrero vs Mighty Inoue! Guerrero establishes he is the heel before the bell as he kicks Inoue in the stomach!... The 1st few minutes are very "mat based" hold counter hold spots! I love this style of wrestling, But a long description of a Lucha Leg hold that is only applied for 30 seconds, seems pointless!.... Chavo is clearly targeting the leg of Inoue. As he bar's it for several minutes. Then puts Inoue in a "Mexican Surfboard hold! Inoue finally manages after several minutes to get free of all the leg holds and hit a piledriver to turn the tide of battle! Then they do a breathtaking series of moves for the time as Guerrero does two forward rolls from the top rope and hit a half body scissors/victory roll for a two count! Both men are back up and square off again! The two get into a overhand chop battle. Won by Guerrero who thrown Inoue to the floor and starts to go to work on the legs again. Draping Inoue leg over the railing outside and throwing a row of connected chairs on the out stretched leg! Inoue climbs back in and takes over hitting a back supplay and a jumping forward roll, then putting Chavo in a reverse chinlock. Inoue transitions from that to a sitting octopus stretch hold! This match has been mat work masterclass! Chavo escapes and clamps on an armbar. Guerrero has had enough of this he picks Inoue up and hurls him to the floor. Then he hits a plancha to the outside, he attempts a surfboard on the floor but Inoue slips free. When Inoue get back in Chavo hits a German Suplex with a bridge but let go of it!(that made no sense) He hooks Inoue in the figurefore! Inoue fights and gets under the bottom rope causing the break. Guerrero gets him back down and goes to hook it in again, but Inoue counters with an inside cradle and gets 3!....Your winner and …..NEW NWA INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, MIGHTY INOUE!! And there was much rejoicing! A different pace in this one from what I thought would be but very very solid stuff!... https://youtu.be/i0ldPIruhoc
Match #2 AWA champion Jumbo Tsuruta vs former champ Nick Bockweinkel….Special guest referee Terry Funk, Again! I am not going over this bout hold for hold move for move for two reasons, 1st I covered a match between these 2 greats 48 hours ago, so you know the move set of both plus how great they are! The match is worth a look for sure! I just feel like i'm going over the same ground. I will talk for a minute about the way the match was booked and the finish. This match was greatly one-sided toward Bockweimkel he just tore Jumbo up! Plus the bout was built on the threat of the countout(in Japan a tittle can change hands in that fashion) There were multiple close calls in this match, for me between the countout spots and Nick constantly bot breaking before the DQ it just felt flat honestly! Finish was different but didn't make either guy look good! Tsuruta got caught hanging by the leg upside down on the apron! Bocweinkel went crazy with both refs having to physically stop him from stomping the tied up leg! He gets Tsuruta in the ring and puts on the figuefore! Jumbo rolls all the way to the floor, but Bocweinkel refuses to release the hold! When Nick tries to get back in the ring, Tsuruta grabs him from behind and stops him from getting in the ring. The match is ruled a double countout!....Why do this to Jumbo in his 1st title defense in Japan no less....make him appear weak and desperate to hang on to a belt he won 48 hours before??? Where they trying to make Nick Bockweinkel a "babyface" in America?....In the AWA where he had been villain #1 for at least 15 years??? This was ill thought out! https://youtu.be/n1Ee0BgBXpE

Iceman King Parsons vs Kimala At just 6 and half minutes this was better than it had any right to be! Kimala took two giant bumps over the tope rope! 1st one he took a wild swing at Parsons against the ropes Iceman ducked Kimala goes flying. He gets back in and does his angry jump and Parsons dropkicks him right on the button, out he goes! and the people love it! Kimala takes over hitting the taped ribs of Parsons. Parsons makes his comeback sending Kimala to the floor. Gen Akbar Kimala's manager jumps up on the apron, King goes over punches him in the head a drags him in the ring. Kimala attacks Parsons, Butch Reed comes down to help Kimala. Johnny Mantell shows up Kimala and reed try to splash him. but Iceman trips Kimala and the good guys escape! https://youtu.be/VFVJL2YSUBU
