#1984WrestlingWars, Mid Atlantic Wrestling Heavyweight title bout from TV, A Match from WWF TV, Memphis Wrestling TV(Evansville feed), and Central States Wrestling, All from 2/4/84!

Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title Bout, from TV 2/4/84  champion Ivan Koloff vs (God help us) Angelo Mosca JR! I have great respect and admiration for wrestlers. I hope this blog leaves no doubt about that. All that made clear, Angelo Mosca JR was so bad I don't understand why he chose wrestling! This was for that territory's highest honor! This bout made me angry and confused and sad! Ivan Koloff is now and was even then a legend! To have that man a star in every sense of the word loose to this poor kid who makes Eric Watts look like Harley Race is beyond words! As we join the bout Koloff is mid-beatdown. David Crockett mic side with Johnny Weaver is trying like mad to get Mosca Jr over. Talking about his will his determination his heart, he never once brings up the kid can't work! The pipe in obvious crowd noise for a good portion of this bout so the fans live might have been cheering Ivan! A rare thing for that era! Ivan is on offense 95% of the time as the kid sells WAYYYYYYYYYYYY Better than he does everything else!.... When Mosca does try a hold he applies the worst figurefore I have seen since my 8 year nephew tried one on his uncle in the backyard! That may sound harsh but watch the match, I swear it is not! Mosca pins the man who ended Bruno's 7 and a half year run as champion in MSG in 1971 with a flying bodypress! Koloff had to hold JR on top of him! The pin looked so bad!....Afterwards Big Mosca runs in and hugs JR, hey at least dad was happy! ....I need to go shower! https://youtu.be/M8D_n50XP3A

WWF TV 2/4/84 This is the start of a program that got red hot between Sgt Slaughter and The Iron Shiek! Slaughter was a hated heel for years previous to this run! As the segment begins the Iron Sheik has just won his match. Slaughter comes out for his bout!, But you see the asile way is so narrow that one man must step aside to let the other by. Nietheir man will budge! Words are exchanged they go nose to nose. Shiek's manager Freddie Blassie starts in as well! The heels finally walk past, but the crowd feels the heat between these two and they are here for it! The annoucer's build this up in a big way, even showing a replay after Sarge creams a job guy in 40 seconds! This was like seeing the dynamite before you light the fuse! A well done angle here! https://youtu.be/MzNPZTGMLHA

Memphis Wrestling TV(Evansville feed) 2/4/84 Hello Again everybody, Lance Russell and Dave Brown Here Right Along Ringside For Another Big Day Of Championship Wrestling!!!) I had to do that intro once I grew up in KY, Memphis was the wrestling we got locally! It was my first wrestling love!.... Biggest action/news of the day, the longtime despised heel Norvell Austin turned into a crowd favorite babyface in one match! Norvell was a veteran of many years by this point he was founding member of the 1st Midnight Express with Dennis Coundry and Randy Rhoades in Alabama in the mid-late 70's! The turn happend like this Norvell was part of a six-man tag with fellow members of Jimmy Hart's First Family, The Bruise Brothers Dream Machine and Porkchop Cash. One of their foes was "Sweet Brown Sugar" Koko Ware under a mask. As the match went on Dream Machine piledrove Koko's 2 partners knocking the out of action. Then they turned their attention to Koko Posting him, busting him open and tearing his mask. In general beating the shit out of him, during all this Norvell is beating up the two jobbers on the floor. When he sees the mugging happening in the ring he stops and watches for a minute! Then he tries 3 different times to get the Bruise Brothers to back off! They, push him away, then down, then Dream Machine just hauls off and punches Norvell in the face! Austin can take no more he gets up jives for a second(why) and proceeds to beat up both of Hart's men till they scurry away! The crowd who hated Norvell 5 minutes ago by the end of this would have voted him mayor of Memphis!!....In other action Big Joe Leduc had a wonderful crazy rambling funny yet scary interview with Lance to begin the show! He and his tag partner King Konga then laid waste to a couple jobbers! This looked brutal at times! 25 dollars to have Joe Leduc kick the shit out of me....No thanks!...There are some great local promos here for the weekly Wensday night show in Evansville!... This was a fun one! https://youtu.be/2JJIomj8hG4

Central States Wrestling TV 2/4/84 They show begins with the announcers talking about a six-man elimitnation  match they don't show!(what the hell was that no wonder Central States tv is not recalled fondly by many!) Best match of the show was easily The masked Grapplers(later to be the Dirty White Boys in TENN I think!) Vs Bruiser Brody and Colonel Buck Robley. This was a good solid tag bout. The crowd was up for it! The Masked men got heat on Robley(duh) who after many minutes got the tag to Brody who quicky gets cut off himself. He tags Colonel right back in and repeat! Finish saw the Masked Duo use thier loaded boot gimmick to bust Robley open under the eye on the blind side of the ref. Brody sees this and grabs a chair and comes in to even the odds! The referee sees Brody use the chair and awards a DQ victory to the Grapplers! They continue to bulid up to a big house show in St Louis.... Both Harley Race and Ric Flair send in promos! Harley Cuts a great one on Wahoo. While Flair still in Dallas talks about Barry Windham his foe for the upcoming show in the main event! The show closes by showing a battle royal won by Windham to earn that upcoming tittle shot!......A solid show!https://youtu.be/JpgemIohZqI
