WCCW tag bout Jimmy Garvin and the Missing Link vs Chris Adams and "Iceman" King Parsons, Dallas TX 3/2/84! This was a really well done tag match with four very different personalities! This was tweleve minutes of chaos! Adams in a previous bout had taken/stolen some of Garvin's ring attire. We wore Jimmy's long white jacket and gloves to the ring. He and Sunshine(Garvin's former valet) did a perfect pantomime of Jimmy and Precious. Even down to Adams doing "Gorgeous" and his whacky posing! The crowd ate this up!...It was very well done, though the whole thing Jimmy and Precious are on the floor screaming Thief, and that's my stuff! In fact during the match while Garvin had Adams in a reverse chinlock he is yelling "I want my Stuff"! Link did stalk Sunshine a few times and Parsons was there to use link as a punching bag! (Man he had great looking punches). It was by in-large a very believable brawl. The finish came when Link headbutted Adams out over the top rope causing the DQ. The heels attack Parsons after the bell, Chris makes the save and for a moment Garvin gets his clothes back, but after a backdrop Adams has the accessories once more!(side note Long time World Class announcer Bill Mercer who to be kind had a unique style(not knowing the name of more than 5 moves ever) really got on my nerves during this bout! At one point he just makes up a nonsense word referring to Jimmy Garvin's property. He compares Missing Link to the Saxons(WTF?) not his best work! https://youtu.be/yyr6urs9nMg
Mid-South Wrestling TV, the 1st week of March 1984! Big news this week more twists and turns in Mr. Wrestling II/Magnum TA Saga. The show begins with Boyd and Watts at the desk, Watts goes over the TV Title Tournament up to this point. He also mentions that nobody has head from "Hacksaw" Duggan since Krusher Darsow attacked him after their coal miners glove bout! He throws to Jim Ross at ringside with TA. Who says even though he tore up the contract with JYD last week for the future North American title bout. He has thought about it, and because he has youth and time on his side and he will get other chances, he has decided to "give" his title bout to Wrestling II!.... II storms to ringside and calls Magnum gutless and slaps him again. He is shaking with rage and walks away. Bill Watts comes over and tries to talk to his longtime friend Mr. Wrestling II and talk some sense into him! Watts Says TA Walks away out of respect/loyalty to the masked man not fear. Watts also says he believes TA could beat Wrestling II. II says he could take any man and beat the Midnight Express! Watts is gobsmacked by wild statement!....All that in one segment!.... Midnight Express are introduced by James E when we come back from break, but Wrestling 2 climbs in and talks to one of them and they leave and Wrestling II announces that he has bought the young man contract for the match and will be one half of the team facing Cornette's crew! Wrestling II starts and is a house of fire, but when tags out to young John King things go downhill fast! The Midnight beat him fast and continue after the bell. II comes in and whoops up on them Until Jimmy throws his tennis racquet to his men! they lay waste to him, until Magnum TA runs in to make the save! As he is beating down both Express members, Darsow (who now wants to be called Kruschev) TA's foe in the Tv Title tourney match for the week grabs him out of the ring and slams his head in the ringpost!....That match is next and TA comes to the ring bandaged and bloody. He hangs in there until Kruschev puts him in his over the shoulder backbreaker! He looks dead! Mr. Wrestling II comes out and calls over the ref and wants to throw the towel in on TA's behalf! Well after a bit to long of a conversation the Ref allows this(why???) As II is throwing in the towel we and II can see that Ta has countered the move and has Krusher pinned. The referee misses this and stops the match giving it to Kruschev! Afterwards Watts talks to Wrestling II who says the kid may be a punk, he stopped the match because he was gonna be hurt bad if it continued! Watts again is dumbfounded! Memphis Wrestling (Evansville Feed) 3/3/84 Biggest news this week Austin Idol and Rick Rude have a confrontation at the announce desk! Idol comes out and says he noticed Rude valet Angel eyeing him last week so he made a workout video of himself for Angel to see! The video is set to Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero"! Rude comes out words are thrown and Idol slaps Rude. In other action "Macho Man" Randy Savage becomes a official member of Jimmy Hart's 1st family!....In the oddest segment Jackie Fargo does a taped interview and says The Fabulous Ones have gotten the big head and left the area!, Why not tell the truth they went to the AWA....
