#1984WrestlingWars, A WWF Tag Title Bout from St Louis, 2/10/84 The first half of a full Mid-South card from Houston TX 2/10/84

WWF Tag title bout, Murdoch and Adonis vs Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas.2/10/84 (Author's note: This is a very small ring, so small that I noticed how small anyway and The link says 2/13/that is when it aired on TV) The story of the bout is this! I assume do to a previous attack/match with Murdoch/Adonis one of the champions comes to the ring looking like a injured British Redcoat at the Battle of Concord during the war for independence! All bandaged and stapled up already bleeding. I gotta give praise the commentators Vince and Okerlund do a great job during this match. They discuss Johnson's obvious courage to want to wrestle in light of the injury. They also are "honest" in talking about how foolhardy it is to be that brave, and the fact that Atlas must try to carry the load. As the bout progresses they are yelling sometimes pleading for the ref to stop the bout! Adonis/Murdoch are damn near flawless in thier role as the let Johnson run wild early, but slowly start to wear him down and work on his wounds! Atlas is good here as well holding Rocky back as the match begins pleading with him! As I said earlier when Johnson does tag a woozy Atlas everybody in the bout tells the story very well. The crowd is with this all the way! Atlas and Johnson famously did not like each other very much and I gotta admit while Rocky is bleeding and being double teamed in the ring, Atlas is on the apron like it is no big deal, his partner's doom! Dicky is late getting in to break up a Johnson small package attempt so the ref just has to stop counting at two. The camera angle here makes that spot BOTCHTASTIC! A four way breaks out and while chaos reigns the ref checks Rocky Johnson's bleeding gash and picks that moment to call a blood stoppage! A wonky finish but a good match and a compelling story told! I assume you cannot win titles on a blood stoppage so Soul Patrol still champions! https://youtu.be/lGiJ6Cyd1UM

A full Mid-South card from Houston Tx, 2/10/84 Part 1
Match #1 Masao Ito vs "Leaping" Lanny Poffo This was the second match of this house show(the1st was a buddy Landell squash win) and all credit due to this lively Houston Crowd. Because they were into this one from the bell! They cheered hard, they booed harder still and "Ohhh" and Awdd perfectly throughout! Poffo was so damn fluid in the ring he could contort and roll thru stuff that if you pay attention to is stunning to watch! Ito was a great foreign menace here with his numerous "Karate" thrusts to the throat and neck. He hit a nice looking piledriver here mid match that Poffo sold well and the crowd popped big for! Lanny got two near falls in a row with a sunset flip(part of the crowd thought this was it and roared their disgust when Ito kicked out!) Then an inside cradle, But Ito took over for good when "leaping" missed a dropkick and splatted to the canvas.  Ito threw his man into the ropes and hit a chop then for the finish Bent Poffo over jumped up and kicked him in the throat! After the pin Ito bowed to many booing fans! Really sold bout! https://youtu.be/TIaR0zcK7tM

Match#2 Black Gordman vs Buddy Moreno(with Jose Lathero in his corner) A little Lucha flavor to this one, not so much in daring moves but in how both men take and deliver bumps! To get this out of the way Paul Bosch Houston booker(in the top tier of the most liked and respected men in wrestling history, If Bosch said it or shook on it you could take it to the bank!) was on the mic for this and it was not good! He was trying to make it more realistic and sports based, which I like, but he would ramble and be many moves behind on commentary! They began fast With Moreno hitting a nice dropkick and hitting Gordman in the pit of the stomach with a right hand. Gordman clams it was below the belt and slumps in the corner. Moreno does seize control after several minutes tossing Moreno outside. Gordman hit two nice looking back heel trip slams. Every time Moreno starts to fire up Gordman escapes to the floor. Yikes! Gordman slapped on the dreaded standing double trapezius squeeze! (this match may kill me before it is through!) Moreno fights back and hits a nice bulldog headlock. When he tries a second time Gordman counters mid-move and throws him off. Gordman then goes for several pin combinations, but every time , the up to now unmoving piece of driftwood, in Moreno's corner Lathero jumps up and puts Merono's feet over the ropes. According to Bosch, Lathero and Gordman are long standing rivals! Gordman has enough of this interference and confronts Jose how is on the apron. While Gordman is distracted Moreno sneaks up behind him and delivers a dropkick sending Gordman flying into the lethal right fist of Lathero! Moreno covers and gets the 3 count! This was odd the match had such a disjointed pace! https://youtu.be/CKHHh8eLxq8

Match #4 Princess Victoria vs Wendi Richter This match was such an improvement over the last one! These two had worked together countless times, I am sure, and it shows! Victoria was a great sympathetic babyface in peril here! When she was getting beaten around she looked near death! Meanwhile Richter was so damn good at being her trainer "the Fabulous Moolah" here that it made here acting to the crowd so much fun! She yelled at them, she made fun of Victoria by imitating her tribal "war Whoop" She posed several times she was a tour de force here! Both ladies did their job so well here that when Victoria did make her comeback and did the war call. The roof blew off the place! Richter cut her off after Victoria whiffed on a dropkick! However snatching victory from nowhere Victoria countered a bodyslam attempt with a cradle and got the win! Wendi continued the beating after the bell to retain some heat! https://youtu.be/6Vzmw1u2xec
