#1984WrestlingWars Mid-South Wrestling Tv for the 3rd week of March 1984, Memphis Wrestling TV (Louisville Feed) 3/17/84

Mid-South Wrestling TV for the 3rd week of March 1984! My God I have never seen so much quality stuff packed into one TV show! Show starts and Bill Watts is at ringside and tells us that The JYD has forefited his Tv title tiurney bout today vs Krusher (formerly) Darsow. Because he lost a match on the 12th of March to the new North American Champion Mr. Wrestling II in New Orleans. Also even though it was just a verbal aggrement by both men and not written in the contract, JYD had said that if II beat him he would leave Mid-south for 90 days! He was a man of his word and he was gone! (II had agreed to take off his mask and leave if he lost! Watts says that he knows 2 put something in his kneepad to knock JYD cold. They show grainy footage of 10 seconds of tape! That is not all one night later in Lafayette LA, The Midnight Express won the Midsouth Tag Belts When II left his partner high and dry in the ring. This was during a" Loser team takes 10 lashes match. So because II just left Terry Taylor came to the ring and volunteered to take Wrestling II 5 lashes as a show of solidarity with TA! My lord Watts and Bill Dundee, the booker,  were pushing Terry Taylor to the moon....This show has in it one of the most classic well remembered "angles" in Mid-south or territory history for that matter. This is the Start of "The Last Stampede" angle between Jim Cornette/Midnight Express and "Cowboy" Bill Watts! It started like this Watts and Boyd Pierce at the desk Say that Cornette and his mother have bought time on this show and that Mid-South has nothing to do with what your about to see! Corny and his men are at ringside with party hats on and noisemakers and streamers and confetti! They are celebrating the fact that they are now your Mid-South Tag Champions. There is even a table with a huge cake on it! After gloating for several minutes, Cornette tells his team to go around the building showing the fans the belts to brag more. They leave ringside as Cornette is about to cut the cake the Rock N Roll Express run out from the back and Smash Cornette's face in the cake! They legit busted his nose open they pushed him down the care so hard! Corny is covered and screaming and wailing. He has cake jammed in his eyes and nose this had to suck!...Watts and Boyd at the desk are crying with laughter, Boyd yells "That's Beautiful Bill" They are pounding the desk laughing at that "Sissy" They go to break when we come back they show it again!.... Well at the end of the show Cornette storms out to ringside with Jr and threats to sue every person there and sue, then have his mother buy Mid-South sports. Watts comes over and says don't sue anybody I told them to shot it again because I thought it was funny...Jim Cornette then cuts one of the best promo's of his, or anybody else's life for that matter! I will include a audio clip of Cornette talking about the angle from his podcast in this blog! If you have never seen this segment please watch it! It is Wrestling heat seeking money drawing gold! I don't wanna ruin it for anybody who has not seen it, so I will leave it there and discuss it further when I review the next Mid-South TV!!! https://youtu.be/uYhgdhDRZJc  This is Jim talking about the angle.....https://youtu.be/v1ih69H6AvM

Memphis Wrestling (Louisville feed) 3/17/84 Author's note: We are missing a week of Memphis TV even though the dates line up. Here is why Each episode of Memphis Wrestling took 3 weeks to be show in each market in the territory. A show would air live in Memphis, the next week that same episode would be on in Louisville, the 3rd week Evansville. We have been in this blog watching The dates shows were shown in Evansville, but this is a Louisville show for the 17th which was a week ahead of where "We" were! So in that Week the "New Fabs" of Eddie Gilbert and Tommy Rich Debuted, they both were great workers but having new Fabs was a god awful idea! They are now feuding with Koko Ware and Norvell Austin The Pretty Young Things Express(this is a dumb name to because Norvell was I believe 108 years old by this point! ….Anyway these two teams had a good run in brawl on the show. In fact this show had 3 sperate run in brawls in 45 minutes! Plus 2 debuts as well! The biggest scuffle was between Austin Idol and Rick Rude it began over his mistreatment of his valet Angel. Before his squash match he orders Angel to shine his shoes. When she hesitates he calls her in the yells and her and draws back like he is going to punch her! You could get nowhere close to that angle today. Idol runs in and goes after rude they collide and Idol ends up outside on the floor! Rude gets a leather strap and reaches out from between the turnbuckles and ties Idol to the ringpost by the neck. Rude then goes to the floor punching Austin, yelling at him and spitting on him! This was dark even for 1984! Faces come out and run him off. The next segment Rude appears again and says he is running this show now. He makes Dave Brown Leave and Rude sits next to Lance Russell!....Jim Neidhart debuts next and rude interviews him! Anvil has a squash match and as he is pinning his man. Idol runs out leaps over the desk and lays out Rude! The studio goes nuts! Anvil comes over and starts pounding Idol who is rolling on the floor behind the announce desk with rude. the locker room empties out to get these two apart! This was a wild Saturday in Memphis!...Ox  Baker also debuted and laid out Dutch mantel with his heart punch! This was a show right here!  https://youtu.be/gX2n8vdWOZM
